What is Xeomin?
Xeomin® is an injectable treatment that uses a form of botulinum toxin to temporarily relax the muscles that cause wrinkles and fine lines. It is FDA-approved for treating wrinkles and fine lines caused by repetitive facial movements, such as frowning or squinting. It is similar to the popular Botox® treatment, but it differs in that it does not have any of the additives commonly found in Botox® and related injectables. This means your body is less likely to develop antibodies that counteract the effects of Xeomin®, which patients may experience with other injectables.
How Does Xeomin® Work?
Xeomin® works by temporarily relaxing the muscles that cause wrinkles and fine lines. What Can I Expect During Xeomin® Treatments?
Xeomin® treatments will begin with the application of a topical anesthetic, which helps minimize any pain that may occur during the injection process. To begin treatment, we will use a very fine needle to inject Xeomin® into the targeted muscles. The procedure typically takes only a few minutes and is relatively painless.
What Can I Expect After a Xeomin® Treatment?
Immediately after Xeomin® injections, you may experience some mild discomfort and redness in the treatment area, but these side effects usually disappear quickly. Within a few days, you can expect to see a reduction in the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines as the Xeomin® formula takes effect. The full effects of the treatment may take up to two weeks to be fully visible.
How Long Does Xeomin® Last?
The results of Xeomin® typically last for 3-6 months. Additional treatments are needed to maintain results.
Is There Any Downtime After Xeomin® Treatments?
Xeomin® treatments do not require any significant downtime, as most patients are able to return to their normal activities immediately after the procedure. However, you should avoid rubbing or massaging the treatment area for 24 hours after the treatment.
