Pros And Cons Of BodyTite Vs. Abdominoplasty
Many of us are self-conscious about our middle section or tummy and wonder what some options are for minimizing the area or toning it up. A couple options that we offer at Envision are BodyTite body contouring or abdominoplasty (tummy tucks). Each procedure has its pros and cons, let’s take a look at which one might be the best solution for you.
An abdominoplasty is a surgical procedure where a plastic surgeon removes excess fat and loose skin from the abdominal area to create a flatter and more toned waist. During the surgery, your abdominal muscles are also tightened which can help improve posture. Abdominoplasties are popular with women getting their figures back after pregnancy as well as people who have lost a large amount of weight and now have excess skin.
You will begin to notice results from your abdominoplasty the very next day, however, the recovery process will take a few weeks. You will be able to get back to regular daily activities within two weeks though you should avoid strenuous activity for four weeks post-surgery. After the recovery process is over your tummy should be flatter than it’s ever been before.
BodyTite is a newer device that uses radiofrequency energy to heat the skin and tighten up problem areas such as the abdominal area. This procedure is minimally invasive and does not require surgery. The device works by heating the internal and external levels on the skin causing it to contract and create a tightening effect. BodyTite is not recommended for size reduction in large areas and you may be recommended to combine treatment with liposuction or another procedure altogether depending on your goals.
In the first 2-3 days following a BodyTite treatment, you’re likely to experience pain in the affected area. There may also be some swelling and bruising. You may not be able to see results for up to two to four months following the procedure so keep that in mind while you’re healing.
