What to Consider Before Getting Rhinoplasty
- Posted on: Jul 30 2015
Beauty enhancement has a lot of benefits, and cosmetic surgery has helped a lot of our patients in Salt Lake City to achieve their desired look. Many of our patients have chosen to enhance certain facial features, such as their noses. Dr. Dunkley offers rhinoplasty procedures to individuals who desire to change the shape or size of their nose.
While it may seem like anyone can have nose surgery if they want to, not everyone is a good candidate for this procedure. There are certain factors to be considered to determine if a patient is a good candidate for surgery.
Do I Need A Rhinoplasty?
You may be a good candidate for a rhinoplasty if you feel that the size of your nose does not go well with the rest of your facial features. The problem may be manifested in your nose width at the bridge or in the position or the size of your nostrils. A lot of our rhinoplasty patients whose nose bridges hasve depressions or humps that are quite visible have been pleased with the results of their plastic surgery. You may also notice a pleasant change from a rhinoplasty if you have a bulbous, hooked, drooping, or enlarged nasal tip. Nasal asymmetry can be corrected through this procedure as well.
Is A Rhinoplasty Right for Me?
During your first consultation with Dr. Dunkley, he will assess the shape, position, and condition of your nose to determine if you are eligible for a rhinoplasty. However, there are other factors that your doctor may need to consider to determine the effectiveness of the procedure. For a rhinoplasty to provide satisfying results, the patient’s facial growth needs to be complete to ensure that the nose is already fully developed. The patient’s physical health is an important factor as well. More importantly, a patient who does not smoke has more chances of a successful rhinoplasty than one who smokes, which is why Dr. Dunkley advises his patients to discontinue the habit weeks before the day of the surgery.
