DON’T HESITATE – RAISE YOUR HAND!

Arm Lift You’ve worked hard to lose weight and get in shape…and it wasn’t a cake walk. But your upper arms are still saggy, flabby, un-firm and unsightly.

Take heart! There is a surgical procedure designed to reduce those saggy underarms. It is called a “surgical arm lift” or brachioplasty and Dr. Dunkley is a specialist.

Brachioplasty reduces excess, drooping upper arm skin. It can tighten and smooth the underlying supportive tissue that defines the shape of your upper arm and reduce localized pockets of fat in the upper arm region.

Heredity, aging and significant fluctuations in weight are possible causes, but unfortunately this is a condition that cannot be corrected through exercise.

  • If you have significantly loose upper arm skin, are of stable weight, are not significantly overweight, are of good health, a non-smoker and have realistic expectations – you would be a good candidate for brachioplasty.
  • If you are considering brachioplasty, you should understand that there will be a significant scar from elbow to armpit. In most cases, the benefit of removing excess skin outweigh this issue.

Some Things to Consider:

Brachioplasty is an outpatient procedure.

You will see results immediately but there may be some swelling and bruising for a few weeks.

A small, thin tube may be temporarily placed under your skin to drain away any excess fluid or blood.

You will wear a compression bandage to support the underlying tissues and help your arms adapt to their new contours.

Following surgery, you should refrain from strenuous exercise until Dr. Dunkley gives you the go ahead.

During your consultation, be prepared to discuss your surgical goals, current medications, alcohol and tobacco use, and any pre-existing medical conditions or drug allergies. You may also be asked to discuss any previous surgeries and your recoveries. Dr. Dunkley will evaluate your general health, discuss your options and discuss the likely outcome of the procedure, including any risks or potential complications.

It’s natural to feel some anxiety – or excitement – or stress.
Don’t be shy about discussing your feelings with Dr. Dunkley.

Call us for a consultation, today. We look forward to meeting you!
