Women have been exploring plastic surgery procedures for many years now, much longer than men have even given it a second thought. For quite a long time, cosmetic and plastic surgery for men was nearly unheard of, except in cases where the man was in need of surgery to repair damage or genetic conditions, such as a cleft palate or cleft lip.

Rhinoplasty in Salt Lake City, UTHowever, in the last few decades, especially with the turn of the century, men have been seen more and more on the cosmetic surgery scene. In fact, the numbers have more than quadrupled in the last ten years, compared to the numbers from the 1990s. Surgery for men is on the rise because advanced technology and greater knowledge have brought about changes that make it easier for men to get what they want done without too much hassle.

Statistics show that the top three surgeries chosen by men have to do with the face. These are rhinoplasty, facelift and eyelid surgery. The fourth and fifth choices for men are liposuction and breast reduction. These latter choices may seem surprising to some. They shouldn’t be. Men are just as concerned about fatty deposits on their bodies as women are. When a man wants to look his best, having a bit of liposuction to help their body-shaping efforts along is a common choice. In addition, a condition known as gynecomastia causes men to grow feminine-type breasts. This can lead to depression and mental anguish. Male breast reduction surgery takes care of this issue.

Men are just as likely to be unsatisfied with a large or crooked nose as women. This fact is proven by the report that rhinoplasty is the number one plastic surgery procedure requested by men. Men also object to deep lines and wrinkles that grow deeper with each passing year. There’s a procedure for whatever cosmetic change desired, whether asked for by a male or a female.
