Dermapen in Salt Lake City, UTIt’s no secret that everyone wants younger, healthier looking skin. Whether you are in your twenties or fifties, there are a variety of skin care treatments and products that we may recommend to help target your fine lines and wrinkles and increase collagen production. One procedure that our patients keep coming back to get more is called DermaPen.

DermaPen is a form of microneedling that works by making tiny punctures in the skin by using an oscillating device. After your skin has been punctured, your body naturally responds by stimulating the production of collagen and thickening the skin in the process— leaving you with younger, healthier skin.

Depending on your skin type and condition, we will determine how many DermaPen treatments you will need to get the best results possible. But once you are done with your procedure, how can you recover? Let’s take a closer look.

Avoid The Sun

After most of our skin care treatments, your skin will be a little sensitive to the sun which can leave you more prone to burning. Make sure that you stay out of the sun for at least a few days following your treatment and if you absolutely have to be outside,  wear a large brimmed hat and sunscreen that will give you a lot of coverage.

Apply A Moisturizer

Around day three and four is when a lot of patients experience some peeling after their DermaPen treatment. Make sure that you don’t pick at your skin and that you avoid touching it a lot. Instead, try to keep it moisturized. A thick, non-fragrant moisturizing cream can help soothe your skin and keep it protected.

Cold Compress

For the first day after your treatment and while you are recovering, try placing a cold, soft compress on your face; this will help ease pain and inflammation and leave you with healthier skin in the process.

Redness and any inflammation should subside just a few days after your treatment. If your symptoms worsen or persist, contact Dr. Benjamin Dunkley right away, and we will get you taken care of.
